It really heats up in AZ in the summer, so Tara and I will be taking some quick trips to get out of the 100 degree heat. In early June we headed down to San Diego. I went to San Diego State for college so it's kind of my old stomping grounds. I still have some great friends in the area and fortunately we were able to hang out with them for the weekend. It was our first chance to take a road trip in our new Honda CR-V.
First of all San Diego is a beautiful place. It's still has that small town feeling for a very large city. All the areas around Mission Bay are beautiful and there are great places to hang out in La Jolla and Pacific Beach. But you do have to remember that in May, June, and July there it can be overcast in the beach areas in the mornings and in the evenings. So make sure you always bring a sweater or a sweatshirt.
Tara and I took a tour of the baseball stadium (Petco Park) in downtown San Diego. It is a beautiful ballpark and is a great place to see a game. I would compare it to Oricle Park in San Francisco. The tour is fun and you get to see all the cool areas to sit and watch games. I would highly recommend the tour and a game there. It is easily accessed by the metro. We went to Old Town to park. We had a bite to eat, did some shopping and easily went downtown on the train.
Speaking of baseball. I am a huge Giants fan and I love to go see them anywhere I possibly can. So Tara and I went to Chase Field to see the Giants and the Diamondbacks play. It was the first time that we have been to the stadium here in Phoenix. It's a pretty nice stadium, it is large and spread out but not hard to find a good seat. It also has a ceiling that opens and closes. This is nice because when it's 100° outside they close the top and crank up the A/C. It was very comfortable in the stadium even though it was 100° outside. A very nice ballpark but it was sad that the Giants did loose the night we were there. Again the stadium has very easy access, easy parking, and lots of places to eat around the stadium. It is very easy to get in and out of the ball park.
