Naxos

The island of Naxos turned out to be a very special place. It is a beautiful island with high mountains and comfortable beaches. Very family oriented. Children on bicycles and families out having dinner together by the harbor. And, if you ever need a souvenir magnet this store had thousands.

We rented a car and drove up to the Rotunda restaurant way up in the mountains. It was a beautiful drive and a great restaurant with an amazing view. We also drove to and walked around the town of Halki. Cute, quiet, and far from the tourists.

One of the highlights on Naxos is the Temple of Apollo. Tourist as well as the locals walk out to the tip of the island to watch the sunset through this beautiful and large archaeological site. It stands proud as the jewel of Naxos. The local elders love to take a late sunset dip at this small harbor beach.
