The Blue Cave is located on the eastern side of Bišeovo island near Vis (Croatia). This spectacular cave is described as one of the most beautiful locations on the Adriatic, and it has become popular because of the glittery blue light that appears at certain times of the day.

A bright blue color appears when sun rays enter the sea and reflect from the limestone cliffs at the bottom. The sun illuminates the water, and the water illuminates the walls, creating a wonderful scene.

Until 1884 the Blue cave was accessible only by swimming and diving a few feet under water to access an opening, but baron Eugen von Ransonnet decided to make cave accessible to the public and created a larger entrance for small boats to be able to enter the cave.
